  • FAQ

What type of pile driver do I need for the size and type of piles I am driving?

The standard pile driver for most solar projects would be the Challenger 1200. The Challenger can drive wooden or steel posts.

If driving posts under 4.6 metres, a smaller machine may be suitable.

Does the ground conditions have an effect on the type of Pile Driver I should select?

    Yes.

The Challenger 1200 will drive your posts into the ground in most conditions with its 1500J Hammer. However, if you are working in areas with hard ground conditions, i.e., rock or ice conditions, it is recommended you use the Challenger Rock Drill.

All the Challengers can be fitted with GPS solutions.

My project is of significant size, does this have an impact on the size of machine I should choose?

    Yes.

Think about not only the project that you are working on now, but what sort of projects are you going to be tendering on for the future?

It may make economic sense to select either the Challenger 1000, 1200 or 1400; these machines are heavier and stronger for the more substantial contracts.

Talk to us directly if you are unsure on the size machine you should choose.
